Invisalign braces are the “invisible braces”. They are clear devices that are molded specifically to your mouth. The Invisalign device is one of the least intrusive ways to realign teeth. They work especially well for people that prefer to not have to deal with typical metal braces.
These amazing devices are not noticeable and have many benefits. They can be removed and replaced at will by the wearer and there are no food restrictions like there are with the traditional teeth aligners. They seem almost too good to be true!
What Material Are the Aligners?
The Invisalign aligners are made from a patented thermoplastic material that was designed specifically to affect the movement of the teeth and move them into the right position. The aligners are clear and look similar to teeth whitening type trays.
The clear material allows for an invisible appearance on the teeth.
Invisalign braces work as traditional braces do. They slowly reposition teeth so that they can be realigned into the position they should be. The Invisalign aligners work by a patented process which applies the correct amount of force to the proper teeth.
The patient switches out aligners every two weeks using the predetermined alignment system that has been set up by the dentist. With each aligner the proper amount of force is placed on the proper teeth to affect movement and realignment of the teeth gently but effectively.
The aligners are comfortable to wear and are completely removable with little effort. While they do fit snugly they are not uncomfortable. They persuade the teeth to move into the correct position. The unique system allows for each aligner to move the teeth gently into the next proper position.
Most people once they understand how the system works want to know how long it takes! The process (although different for everyone) takes typically twelve months depending on the severity of the case and the expected results. With regular use (it is recommended that the aligners are used up to 20 hours per day and removed only to eat and brush) you could have a brand new smile one year from today!
Invisalign aligners are easy to care for! You can use the Invisalign Cleaning System or simply brush and rinse under warm water. To avoid stains on your aligners be sure to brush your teeth after every meal!
