Invisalign Brighton – Dr. Sabott Elite Provider
Invisible braces, more commonly referred to as Invisalign clear aligners, are a set of clear, removable trays that are custom fitted to your teeth. You wear them for 20-22 hours a day and change your set as your teeth shift. Your orthodontist will evaluate your specific case and many types of bite discrepancies can be treated with Invisalign.
Invisalign is an orthodontic option that entails wearing removable mouthpieces that slowly align the teeth and mouth to create a straight smile. The apparatus is clear, almost invisible and is a comfortable, effective, aesthetically pleasing way to get a straight and healthy mouth. The Invisalign name describes it best: it’s the invisible way to align your teeth.
As an alternative to more traditional orthodontic solutions, which entail metal braces, Invisalign offers an orthodontic adjustment method that uses a series of clear aligners, or trays, to gradually adjust your teeth and alignment. From the very beginning Invisalign was a big hit, particularly for adults who just couldn’t see themselves wearing traditional metal braces. Today, Invisalign remains a popular choice for children and adults.
Invisalign is a perfect option if you’re looking for a more aesthetically pleasing way to straighten your teeth and fix your bite. Your Orthodontist will evaluate your case for Invisalign treatment.
Many orthodontic problems can be treated with Invisalign:
- Overcrowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Simple bite irregularities
- Relapses after traditional braces have been removed
How Invisalign Clear Braces Work
If your orthodontist feels Invisalign is a good fit for your orthodontic needs, a set of digital x-rays and photos will be taken. These x-rays and photos, taken with a high tech 3D iTero scanner, will be sent to a lab where the Invisalign aligner trays will be made using a 3D computer projection of how your teeth could move with the help of aligners. The result of that projection is the basis for creating your custom-made aligners.
Your specific case will determine how many aligners you will need throughout your treatment, but typically a set of 20 to 30 aligners are needed for both the upper and lower teeth. Your orthodontist will provide you with a couple of Invisalign aligners at a time and you’ll wear each aligner for about two weeks. Invisalign trays are removable, and should be removed for eating and brushing your teeth, but wearing them consistently is vital to treatment success.
How Long is the Invisalign Treatment Plan?
The entire length of treatment depends on your specific alignment problem, but most adult teeth are corrected in less than a year. Teenagers who have Invisalign treatment tend to need a little longer, about a year to 18 months. The more faithful you follow the treatment plan, which means keeping them in for 20-22 hours a day, removing them to brush and floss regularly, eating and drinking what you should, and seeing your orthodontist for follow-up appointments, the sooner you’ll be smiling with the help of Invisalign!
Introducing iTero scanner, a new state-of-the-art technology that allows our Invisalign patients to have digital scan instead of using the traditional trays and thick liquid to make impressions. The iTero scanner allows Dr. Sabott to take a highly accurate, digital 3D image of the individual characteristics of your teeth and gum tissue. The iTero scanner is all about keeping you comfortable while delivering precise imagery, without the goop or gagging associated with conventional impressions.
